Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island Complaint #19

Warning to anyone looking to use this facility… they are ONLY concerned with financial gain and NOT the best interest/health of your pet!!! I brought my dog there on a Saturday afternoon under the impression (after both speaking with someone on the phone prior AS WELL AS looking on their website) that she could have a abdominal ultrasound done. It was ordered by my vet after her liver enzymes were elevated and she had been vomiting. Upon arrival they told me there was no ultrasound tech there and it would have to wait until Monday. Since we were there already and my dog was still sick we opted to see the vet (wasn’t really given the choice actually bc they took her back immediately for eval without knowing why we were there).I decided to bring her home with us and return Monday for a sono, the dr agreed this plan was ok. The front desk assured me we would get a call Monday morning to come in for an appointment that day. I called Monday first thinj and was told she could come in Wednesday! Mind you, she had not kept any food down in several days. I explained that we had paid hundreds of dollars one day prior and both my vet and the ER dr on call BOTH ordered a sono for her. They informed me that if I were to PAY TO SEE AN ER DR AGAIN MONDAY, Then they could find a way to squeeze her in but if I chose not to pay for another dr visit then I had to wait until wed. To me this is u acceptable, especially when I was assured by multiple staff members it would be Monday. I spoke with the office manager, who assured me she relayed this situation to one of the owners, dr fundacaro, who agreed they WOULD NOT accommodate my dog for the sonogram Monday as promised. To me, that is not a dr who is putting the pets best interest first. I also left a message for Greg, who I was told is the practice manager at 9:30 Monday morning. It’s Tuesday at 10am and still not so much as a courtesy return call. I’m very sorry I didn’t read the reviews about this place before I went. I can see why it has a 2.9 out of 5 rating. That speaks volumes.

(Many complaints on yelp were made due to lack of compassion, understaffed, exorbitant pricing,  price gauging. Also despite being an emergency facility 24/7 do not have emergency staff 24/7 and borderline negligent)
