Investigators said Dr. Gregory Burbelo, 57, was seen on video striking dogs with his hands and a clipboard in three different incidents in November.

The alleged incidents happened at the Boston Street Animal Hospital in Canton. Burbelo is no longer employed there.

The Animal Hospital released a statement Saturday, saying:

“Boston Street Animal Hospital no longer has any association with Dr. Burbelo. Respectful and attentive care for the pets we are entrusted to treat is our highest possible priority. We want our clients an the public to know that we set and enforce the highest possible standards of care. Because charges have been laid, we can’t say more at this point without jeopardizing the prosecution of this matter.”

He is also charged with telling employees that they would lose their jobs if they reported what they witnessed.

Burbelo is charged with several counts of animal cruelty, aggravated animal cruelty, and witness intimidation related charges.
